Publishing Guidelines

In order to publish any papers, students must format their papers based on our formatting requirements listed below and based on the Chicago Manual of Style. Any submissions will be reviewed and edited by the editors with final confirmation from all authors. Any questions should be directed to burgessc@mi.edu.

Copyright Policies

For authors, by agreeing to be published in the Musicians Institute Scholarly Press, you are agreeing to a permanent, free publication of your work posted on the internet in perpetuity. You retain the rights to your work but recognize they will be permanently published on the Library website. The editor(s) will provide edits to better your paper, however you retain the right to decline edits as you see fit. We agree to limit all downloading rights in order to protect your copyright as much as possible. These works are not eligible for royalties or licensing fees.

For users, by accessing this site, you agree to respect the copyrights of the authors by accessing these copies in their read-only format and not making alternative copies without the express permission of the authors. All citations must include the authors and are subject to their approval. 

Should you believe we have wrongfully published your work, please issue a DMCA notice to the librarian at library@mi.edu. Please include your name, the title, volume, and issue of the work in question, and we will convene to discuss.
